One dog,loads of crafts: 20 May 2009

The room in the previous post was quite a challenge. The sloped ceiling did not leave much headroom! I know a lot of crafters prefer to use the Expedit shelf from Ikea, but I find it to rigid. At the office, we often used the Faktum(Akurum) kitchen range when designing open planned work spaces and such, and we also used it in our office space.

I love the flexibility of that system and I really think it is a great choice in a space like this. That way you have the ability to choose doors on some of your cabinets, hiding away those "ugly" bits. They also come in a variety of styles and finishes so it is easy to get them to fit your craft rooms style!

I did actually call Ikea to find out the inner depth of their wall cabinets and it is 35,5 cm. That means that for example the Perfect Paper Stackable Open Paper Trays will fit inside the shelves, even with doors on.

Because you can get extra shelves, doors, drawers and such, your craft room will be truly flexible, and there will be less of those hard to reach spaces. They also come in a wide variety of heights so that you can get the perfect size for your need!
