As a part of my back-to-work training I have made my knowledge as an interior architect available for the users of the largest online scrapbooking community in Norway. So far I have finished one scraproom design, and I´ve got 5 or 6 more on my waiting list.

I am sure that some of the issues addressed in these designs will be valid in many crafting spaces, so I decided to share my work with the world. That is why I have crafted a second blog, where I will showcase my ideas. As my health improves, this might be a service I will be able to offer to even more people!

If anyone has any questions about the designs posted here, or any of the furniture used just post a comment! I can also be reached by mail.

This blog will be updated with new drawings and designs as soon as I finish them. I will also post clever storage ideas and furniture finds my design work turns up. If you have any solutions that could be useful for other crafters that you want to share, please send me an email to the address above. I will post your idea with a link to your blog (if you´ve got one).

I am looking forward to building this blog, and hopefully it, one day, will turn out to be one useful resource for crafters all over the world!

Another Scraproom

Finally I have sent of my last scrap room design. Now I can share it with the world! This time the space was less challenging, but sometimes less limits can be just as difficult! In this space I have mad scrapping space the big thing. In this space at least 3, maybe 4 persons can scrap at the same time! Great for the social scrapper. This room is 3,4 x 2,5 meters, but the design can be adjusted to other sized rooms.

  1. Ikea kitchen cupboard Depth 370mm x Width 800mm x Height 2110mm, cupboards placed on a 50 mm base so that it is easy to clean the floor.
  2. Ribba picture ledge, cut to length.
  3. Ikea Kitchen cupboard Depth 370mm x Width 800mm x Height 700mm, cupboards placed on a 50 mm base so that it is easy to clean the floor.
10./11. Assorted storage boxes from Ikea.

4. Alex Drawer Unit
5. Helmer Drawer Unit
6. Ikea Kitchen cupboard Depth 370mm x Width 800mm x Height 920mm
7. Ikea Kitchen cupboard Depth 370mm x Width 400mm x Height 920mm
8. Wall mounted shelve Depth 200mm
9. Work top Oak/White Depth 650mm x Length 3400mm
10. Grundtal rail
11. Room for printer and cutters
12. Signum Cable Management under the work top

The room in the previous post was quite a challenge. The sloped ceiling did not leave much headroom! I know a lot of crafters prefer to use the Expedit shelf from Ikea, but I find it to rigid. At the office, we often used the Faktum(Akurum) kitchen range when designing open planned work spaces and such, and we also used it in our office space.

I love the flexibility of that system and I really think it is a great choice in a space like this. That way you have the ability to choose doors on some of your cabinets, hiding away those "ugly" bits. They also come in a variety of styles and finishes so it is easy to get them to fit your craft rooms style!

I did actually call Ikea to find out the inner depth of their wall cabinets and it is 35,5 cm. That means that for example the Perfect Paper Stackable Open Paper Trays will fit inside the shelves, even with doors on.

Because you can get extra shelves, doors, drawers and such, your craft room will be truly flexible, and there will be less of those hard to reach spaces. They also come in a wide variety of heights so that you can get the perfect size for your need!

Scraproom under the rafters :-)

My new Crafty Space Design blog!

So, as some of you know, I´m an Interior Architect by trade. I´m currently working my way back to work, so to speak. With that in mind I have taken on a few design jobs doing crafting spaces for members of the Norwegian online community Scrapping.no. I have now created a new blog where I will post the result of these jobs. Hopefully this will be helpful to other crafters as well :-)

The blog is called

An Interior Architect and Crafty Space Design

It is only a few hours old, but I´m planning to post the first design today or tomorrow. Wish me luck :-)

My crafting space

I must admit, from time to time, my crafting space is a mess. And when saying from time to time, I actually mean all the time (except for maybe 10 minutes after tidying it up...)

Rolf is just as big a part of my space as any of my tools. He is SO dirty in this photo! I usually give him a bath every week, but you can clearly see I´ve been delaying it for a bit (ehhh... 17 days?....). Poor thing, he hates being this dirty! I gave him a bath yesterday though... 7 hours did it take......

A few days ago I went dumpster diving... To be more precise, I got the guy filling it to dig out a few of the shelves that was lying all the way down the bottom :-) It is amazing what a cute smile, and the fact that he is the son of one of the people working at our farm can do....

I got my dad to take of four of the shelves, so that I could fit my 12"x12" paper on it.
The card display on the left was one of the treasures I found as well. I love how I can arrange my card blancs by colours! I´ve also used it for some flowers, chipboard in zip lock bags stickers and so on. I´m a big fan of displaying my stash. I find it so much easier to use when I can see what I´ve got! Only problem is that others can see it as well.... I´m all, "its not that much... it was all lying in boxes before.... it just looks like much because its all on display...." blablabla.....

Here´s some of my chipboard, flowers, inks and glues. Me like see through boxes with lids as well :-)

I´ve used reused a cutlery tray to store some of my markers and pens.
