Paperclipping Festival

On the 22.June Noell is hosting the Paperclipping Fastivale over at paperclipping.com . Its a showcase of LOs created after beeing inspired by one of the Paperclipping video tutorials, and I would highly recomend you guys to pay her a visit, and maybe become a member of Paperclipping! At first I became a member to support Noell and Izzy, and not so much for the videos, but after watching them I can truly see a difference in how I approach scrapbooking.

So, if you still haven´t discovered Paperclipping, now is clearly the time! I have fallen in love :-) Noell (and Izzy) has great video tutorials, but to me, the most fantastic thing is their Paperclipping Roundtable podcast. They have also just started The Paperclipping Digi Show, and that is just as great! As I spend most of my time in my studio, either scrapping, blogging or bloghopping I´ve been listening to PRT and PSD several times a day. They have become my crop friends!

What I love about Noells style of scrapping, and the video tutorials, is that its so adaptable to different styles. (And she´s thought me how to use all those fab Hambly transparencies and rubons I keep buying but never use..)

For this LO about me it´s easy to see how I´ve picked up tips from Noell. The episodes that come to mind are these:

I made this page for one of the challenges over at ACOTs NSD crop. We had to use a photo of ourself, and an Eigthies color scheme.

I didn´t journal on this page, because I thought my choise of title said it all: "I like going against the grains" The title describes how I don´t always go the expected way, do the expected thing,  make the expected choice, and I´m very happy with it :-)

Materials used:
  • Cardstock:Core´dination (CoreImpressions:Cosmo Cricket neutrals collection)(Core Couture)
  • Embelishments:Hambly rubons, butterfly (unknown), pearls from stash
  • Punch: Martha Stewart Around The Corner Layered Arch
  • Other:My Little Shoebox Mini Alpabet stickers in Kiss, sandpaper

The crazyness of the NSDcrop at ACOT...

Crazy, thats all I can say... This morning DD didn´t even bother to get up, because he was sure I would be sitting in front of the computer all day anyways.. (he got up about 2 hours after me... didn´t even want to go outside until 12...)

I didn´t do as many LOs as I planned, but I did make at least one that was so incredible time consuming. I do love how it turned out though! This is a photo heavy post! (But I´ve made them smaller, so hopefully they will not take that long to load...

two of lifs joys: pajamas & icecream
I´ve made the background of this LO using Kraft cardstock (Bazzill), Gesso and Shimmerz Vibez. It was difficult getting a good photo of it, the closeup is the one with the best color. I´ve used ribbon for the grass and the "flower stems", the rubons are from imaginisce. The flowers are made by fabric (I covered the fabric with ModPodge and left it drying over night. The roses are made using the technique that Lollychops taught in this video tut. The lollipop flowers are made by cutting circles...

Journaling:
We´re shopping at Armstrongs. When we found this gold leotard and tutu there was no going back...I still think you should have bougth it! The outfit made you glow!

Romance and sharing...

This is one of the LOs I´ve made from a trip with my BFF Elise to London in 2008. I LOVE the letter stickers from K&Company. Like typwriter "knobs"... I did this at one of the crops I wnt to a couple of weeks ago as well... (Only about 16 left to share!!)

It´s National Scrapbook Day tomorrow (not in Norway though), and I´m joining in on the fun over at ACOT this weekend. Its the NSD crop! I love online crops. No packing, no oh my I wish I had that photo/ink/stamp/punch/paper. My goal is to join in on 10 of the 18 fast scraps (If I can get out of bed at 6.45 am). There will also be 20 other challenges, and I´m hoping to get about 15 of those done.... So, I´ll be busybusybusy....

Other things I want to share:
  • do have a listen to the Paperclipping roundtable. I adore it! I find myself waiting for Thursdays and new episodes, and I listen to it while I scrap or when travelling (sitting on the airport, listening to my iPod and giggeling...)
  • Have a good read over at May Flaums blog : She is writing about her creative journey, and I love reading about how she has developed as an artist/scrapbooker from the start!
  • go check out the May kits from Magpie Club! They look amazing, and I can not wait to get these goodies in the post!!

when all ends well....

A nasty photo of my sisters early days.... I love it :-) I´ve fallen in love in using Thickers in the same color as my background paper. I feel like I can get away with using large fonts when doing that!

This is one of the flowers I taught in my class. I´m so happy to be able to use it on something!

Forward and backward

The title is from a Norwegian childrens song about rowing your boat out to go fishing... I think it fits this photo of my younger brothers perfectly! I´ve used Core´dination cardstock (my one and only true cardstock love) for the background, just tearing it up into waves and layering them. The stamped fish are from the Fishy Philosophy set from Ippity stamps, and I´ve stamped them using Perfect pearls in Perfect Pearl.

Redy, set, open!

On of my little brother, opening gifts at Christmas Eve. As you can see he got a new chair and some clothes that he just had to try out. I´m thinking that this photo is from around 94-95.

I can do it...

project gone bad....

Finally, the first LO from last weeks crop extravagance! One of the prompts the first weekend was "project gone bad". At that moment I felt like getting up on the stage were we put all our LOs with a sign around my neck saying project gone bad... Luckely, I had this photo all blown up, and it was a perfect match!

Crop extravaganza is over!

Oh, I´ve had such a great time! 20 LOs done in the last 10 days, 100s of fab people met, tons of chocolate consumed... Today we´ll drive back home, and tomorrow I´ll start showing off the LOs I´ve created :-)

I´m still here, lurking around...

So many plans, so little time. And the I get this horrible cold, and have to stay in bed....

My plan for this week was to show you all of the LOs I made last weekend at the crop. Now, my new and improved plan is to start showing off my work next week, and then add in the LOs I´m making at this weekends crop. If anyone is in any doubt, I LOVE CROPS!!!

I also wanted to share how my class went, and do a lot of commenting on blogs that I have neglected lately. But next week is as good a time as any right?

But now I´ll get some sleep. Because tomorrow I´m going to help set up some shops at the crop!

Card for Baptism

Last Friday I went to a crop in Ålesund at a wonderful shop called Familieminner (Family Memories). I have only been to two crops before, both of them involved a plain ride, so this was a new experience. On both of them I was working on my first acrylic album, so I kind of knew what to bring. This time I was at a loss, my album was finished and I had no clear ideas for the cards I had on my to do list. What to bring - what to bring.... I was going through my patterned papers and I realised that my one day old resolution about not buying any patterned papers, only storage, was going to be broken the next evening. I mean, who can resist the temptation of a store filled with new shiny stuff?? Not me.... So, I went to the crop without one single piece of paper. I´ll tell you, it felt quite naughty.....

The first card on the list was a card for one of my sisters bfs. Her baby boy was baptised last Sunday. At the crop I found this beautiful paper by graphic 45 - Toy Soldier Parade. As some of you might have noticed, I´m not all that into making "traditional" cards. I like to use unexpected stash and papers in different ways. I thought this paper would be perfect for a baby boy! No baby blues and chubby, darling faces anywhere! :-) The paper line also have a 12x12 sheet with amazing coordinating tags witch topped of the card. The only thing bothering me is; why A,B,E????? Who writes A,B, E????? I solved it by attaching the letters in a "random" order, only to discover that the A and the E had a thin blue frame and the B had a green one... Arghhhhh..... What is the point of that, I ask??? If anyone has connections in the graphic 45 design department, please tell them that they can not do stuff like that. I messes with a perfectionists mind... The other seven ladies at the crop thought I was mental.... Little did they know!!! *manic laughter*

The good thing was the the little baby boy did not notice :-) Lucky me! And his mom loved the card so much that she said she was going to frame it and hang it in the nursery :-) I just hope she does not blame me when her little boy messes up his alphabet.....

I added Severins name to the front of the card. Just a little personal touch!

On the inside of the card I used a stamp with an old Norwegian lullaby.

I cut the toy soldier out of the patterned paper to finish of the back.

Materials used:
  • Patterned paper: graphic 45 - Playtimes Past Collection, Toy Soldier Parade
  • Tags: graphic 45 - Playtimes Past Collection, Playtimes Past Tags
  • Cardstock: Bazzill - Dotted Swiss in Neptune
  • Cardstock: Unknown - Metallic
  • Stamp: Kort og Godt
  • Inks: Distress Ink - assorted colours

From now on, I´ll only eat take - aways.....

So, after spending two nights in this horrible smokers room we are now safely tucked in bed in my grandmas house. I´ve got this "magic" t-shirt that I sleep in to reduce pains (don´t ask me if its working, I don´t believe in magic) and it stinks. But, anything is better than my flat! I was there for a short time this morning, there were three strangers in it, packing down all my belongings to go on a "detox". It was so strange seeing everything packed up like that. It felt like I was going to move. They had already tried to clean the parquet floor where the fridge (now on its way to fridge hell) once stood, but no luck. It will probably be ripped out and replaced. I´m just so happy I´m insured! I "only" have to pay about 625$, and considering my fridge was about twice that price, that's not much!

2morrow I´m taking Rolf to the dog grooming place. I cant wait, and it feels so great knowing I´ll have a full 2 week break from bathing him! I´ll also try to make a post about the great crop and fair on Saturday. After all, the weekend was not all bad!

Scraporama

I´ve just signed up for "Stortreff" at the Scrapbooking fair in March! This is sooo exciting:-) I was originaly going to Oslo on sunday, but now I´ve changed my ticket and arranged for my mum to travel with my dog on sunday. This will be my first meeting with the intruiging scrapbooking world. I hope they don´t have a secret language... hehehe... I´ve signed up for two classes, Vintage cards and Painting with distress ink.
